Catriona Dickson, Clinical Canine Massage Therapist
and owner of K9 Massage Clinic based in Stirling, Scotland.

I have always approached bodywork to ease my own aches and, sometimes debilitating, pains rather than reaching for the pain killers. I understand the power of physical manipulation to take the tension out of muscles, release toxins, rebalance the body and the great feeling of relief that goes along with it. It is a great honour to be able to offer dogs the same practical, hands on help to improve their physical and emotional well-being, and relieve their pain.

I studied with the world renowned Natalie Lenton at the Canine Massage Therapy Centre for two years. This course involved over 800 hours of study and practical sessions.

Throughout the course I studied Advanced Canine Anatomy and Physiology, the mechanics of how a dog works, and 4 massage styles: Swedish, Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage and Myofascial Release techniques. These are the same styles and principles that are applied to humans, and we know how beneficial this is to our own health and well-being. Now your dog can benefit too.

I learned the art of Gait Analysis, this is the ability to see where a dog is not moving as freely as it might or where it might be concealing problems and overcompensating.

I also learned the art of Advanced Palpation, this I where I feel over your dog, testing individual muscles and tendons. With these skills I can feel muscle and soft tissue injuries which would remain undetected by x-ray or MRI machines. I feel for strains, painful trigger points and constricting scar tissue from past injuries.

I am a member of the Canine Massage Guild which maintains high standards by promoting Best Practice principles and ensuring the completion of at least 25 hours or CPD per year. As I have been a member for over four years I have futher training in Advanced Trigger Points, Lymphatic Drainage, Canine Conditioning, Human Massage, Stretch and Flex.

I now also offer a Beginner’s Canine Massage Workshop and a Sports & Agility Warm Up / Cool Down Massage Workshop.
